Galen, a Syrena prince, searches land for a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. It’s while Emma is on vacation at the beach that she meets Galen. Although their connection is immediate and powerful, Galen's not fully convinced that Emma's the one he's been looking for. That is, until a deadly encounter with a shark proves that Emma and her Gift may be the only thing that can save his kingdom. He needs her help--no matter what the risk.
♔ Review

I was all kinds of excited to get to read Of Poseidon, and now, having read it, I can say that it didn't disappoint.

I loved Emma from moment one. She was snarky, she had a humor that won me over ever since I first read about her. And not only Emma. Anna Banks has done a great job in keeping the story light and hilarious at times.

Usually, I don't mind whether a book has alternating POVs or not, as long as the story is well narrated. In this case, I highly enjoyed Galen's (third person) POV since we get a little glimpse of what he's really thinking, and what's going on that Emma doesn't know about. Ah, and their love story is so sweet! It was that perfect combination of sweetness, misunderstandings and attraction. Incredibly perfect. Beginning aside, I really liked all the side characters. There are not many of them, but I had a great time reading about Rayna, Toraf... Their characters are exquisitely unique and a world on their own. Remembering them makes me want to read it all over again.

The plot, while not immensely complex, kept me guessing at all times. And what's more, I kept guessing wrong! I have a spot of books that don't go the way I first thought. We also get a glimpse of what the Syrena (not mermaid!) world is like in Of Poseidon, but for me it wasn't enough. Left me wanting for more! All in all, this book is one of those enchanting, magic reads that you absolutely cannot miss.

I'm so so so eager to read this book and it sounds like the perfect, light read for summer! I love reading about snarky, humorous characters so I think I'd like Emma and Galen seems intriguing ;) I can't wait to get my hands on this now so that I can get lost in the love story and the complex plot!

Lovely review, Sophie <3

So glad that you seem to enjoy this book very much! x) I read mixed reviews on this book but most of them are positive ones! I heard that the romance is very sweet, and Galen is a charming person (er... merman?). I always have soft spot for heartwarming romance with twisted plots! :)

Sweet and lovely review as always, Sophie! <3

So glad you liked this! I keep changing my mind about whether or not I want to read it but you have convinced me to give it a go. ;) I love the sound of the plot. It's so great when a story is unpredictable! Amazing review, Sophie!

Yay, Soph! I saw that you loved this on Goodreads (I wasn't stalking you, I swear LOL <3) and I was just waiting for you to post your review for it -- and I'm even happier now knowing WHY you loved it, because it was the same way for me! The slit POVs, the sweetness, the unpredictability... I know a lot of people said they guessed the ending revelation, but I was actually SO shocked!

(It's what's making the wait for the next book really painful!)

Amazing review, Sophie! :) <3

Oh, the romance sounds absolutely heartwarming and I'm very curious about the Syrena!!! The mixed reviews worry me. It's probably the kind of book people will either love or hate I guess! Fantastic review, Sophie ;D I can't wait to meet Galen and Emma!

I've never read a mermaid book before (I know!). But I've heard a lot of good things about Of Poseidon recently. This review makes me feel like I SHOULD check it out.

Fabulous review, Sophie! :D

Duuude, I avoid mermaids like the plague! Seriously. They are not one of my faves of the paranormal genre, but this book seems SO kickass! I kind of sort of really LOVE the name, Emma, and the fact that you mention that she's snarky and hilarious makes me want to read this ASAP. XD <3 And whhhaaat?! A uber sweet LOVE STORY? You know I'm a romance junkie, so if this love story was the BOMB, I'm definitely going to read this now.

Thank you so much for sharing your ever lovely thoughts, Sophie! <3 I MISS YOU ON TWITTER! <//3 COME BACK.
