Although their connection is immediate and powerful, Galen's not fully convinced that Emma's the one he's been looking for. That is, until a deadly encounter with a shark proves that Emma and her Gift may be the only thing that can save his kingdom. He needs her help--no matter what the risk.
♔ Review

I was all kinds of excited to get to read Of Poseidon, and now, having read it, I can say that it didn't disappoint.

I loved Emma from moment one. She was snarky, she had a humor that won me over ever since I first read about her. And not only Emma. Anna Banks has done a great job in keeping the story light and hilarious at times.

Usually, I don't mind whether a book has alternating POVs or not, as long as the story is well narrated. In this case, I highly enjoyed Galen's (third person) POV since we get a little glimpse of what he's really thinking, and what's going on that Emma doesn't know about. Ah, and their love story is so sweet! It was that perfect combination of sweetness, misunderstandings and attraction. Incredibly perfect. Beginning aside, I really liked all the side characters. There are not many of them, but I had a great time reading about Rayna, Toraf... Their characters are exquisitely unique and a world on their own. Remembering them makes me want to read it all over again.

The plot, while not immensely complex, kept me guessing at all times. And what's more, I kept guessing wrong! I have a spot of books that don't go the way I first thought. We also get a glimpse of what the Syrena (not mermaid!) world is like in Of Poseidon, but for me it wasn't enough. Left me wanting for more! All in all, this book is one of those enchanting, magic reads that you absolutely cannot miss.

Monday evening news

♔ New covers! Oh my gosh this is such a long post and I'm sorry but I've missed so many weeks of gorgeous new covers and I couldn't stand not having them here. Seriously though, I don't know if I can handle so much prettiness. I'm surprised that a lot of them are continuation of series instead of the usual new books. Oh, how my heart broke when I heard there would be a new cover for Shatter Me. I LOVED the old one, and I usually grow attached to first versions... The rest are still gorgeous, of course -creepy eye aside-. My favorite one is, without a doubt, the one of Let the Sky Fall

♔ The actress for the role of The Mortal Instrument's Isabelle Lightwood has been casted! Her name is Jemima West. Yay, more new actors announced! I'm actually excited for this movie and I'm eager to get to know the rest of the characters. It's interesting and I can't help but compare them to how I see them in my mind.

♔ Teaser images of Obsidian's book trailer! Quite an intense scene... I've read somewhere that it's the "laptop scene". I haven't read the book, so I don't really know! It has me a little bit puzzled that they're releasing the book trailer now, but oh well, I'll be looking forward to it :)

♔ The title of the third book of the Bloodlines series has been revealed! It'll be The Indigo Spell (I like how it sounds!). And there's even the first paragraph as a teaser! I don't know how, but with just that I'm dying to read the book. And just today I started The Golden Lily.

This wasn’t the first time I’d been pulled out of bed for a crucial mission. It was, however, the first time I’d been subjected to such a personal line of questioning.

“Are you a virgin?”
♔ Book trailers! Very late, I know ;; But there's the Tiger Lily one! I honestly can't wait for the book to come out, I think it'll be one of those books that will blow me away. Expecting some major awesomeness! :)

This is my mailbox for the past two weeks. My dear twin sister won an art contest hosted by Bree Despain, and these are the books that she got! (Plus a $30 giftcard... still thinking which books to buy!) And then there's The Golden Lily which I still haven't read, just because if I start I won't stop until I'm done and I still have to study. And last but not least, Something Like Normal which I'm expecting to be an amazing read.

Sorry I haven't been replying or commenting much, finals are too much at the moment ;; But tomorrow is my last one, and I'll be free. An entire month of finals. I think I won't know what to do with myself after (lies! of course I'll be reading ;) ). I hope you have a nice week and enjoy the start of the summer <3

Faced with a future trapped in another dimension, Anna turns to Rei for help. ♔ Summary
A romantic and empowering book about bullying
Noelle's life is all about survival. Even her best friend doesn't know how much she gets bullied, or the ways her mom neglects her. Noelle's kept so much about her life a secret for so long that when her longtime crush Julian Porter starts paying attention to her, she's terrified. Surely it's safer to stay hidden than to risk the pain of a broken heart. But when the antagonism of her classmates takes a dramatic turn, Noelle realizes it's time to stand up for herself--and for the love that keeps her holding on.
♔ Review

Keep Holding On was one of my most anticipated books of the year. With its interesting premise about bullying and young and innocent love, it immediately caught my attention. I couldn't resist its cute concept!

Now that I've read it I can say that the book isn't spectacular, but it was as much as a (bitter?)sweet read as I had hoped. I instantly fell in love with the main character. It was endearing and much more to read about Noelle's experiences. She's just a girl who's trying to live her everyday live and do things right. What she has to experience as a result of the bullying is completely heartbreaking. I spent all the book wanting to jump into the book and hug Noelle. There's a moment when she's even trying to figure out what she did wrong, if it was impossible for someone to love her. You're right, I was already crying at that point.

Luckily, there are some people that make Noelle's life a little brighter, like her best friend and Julian. Now, about Julian. I really liked him and his love for Noelle, but he left me... puzzled at times. I felt like he was blind at times, like he could have helped her more. As for the other characters, I mostly felt furious for those ignoring her.

Having read this book, I bow my hat to the author. The story that Susane Colasanti has written felt REAL at all times! It's truly inspiring.

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted at Parajunkee & Alison Can Read , used to meet new friends from the blogging world!

Q: Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?

Ah! That's actually not a tough one. My favorite dad character is, without a doubt, Rose's dad from Vampire Academy. He's... really unique, but totally awesome. I don't know how to describe it, but he definitely wins that position for me!

Sorry I've been missing all week, but my finals are taking all my time. But tomorrow is the big day when I finish my last "difficult" exam, so afterwards I'll be more less free :)

Waiting on Wednesday (19)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine and it's used to showcase the upcoming releases we're excited about.

The cover is more than gorgeous. The summary sounds amazing. I just can't not be waiting for this! I usually don't read much science-fiction, but since I read The Host by Stephanie Meyer that I'm more than curious about that genre. And since technology has always fascinated me, I'm more than excited for Glitch to come out!

Glitch (Glitch #1) by Heather Anastasiu
In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.
When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.
As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.
In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

Q: You are a matchmaker -- your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

I'm a horrible matchmaker. Mainly I just like the main pairing of the book, that's it. I'm completely against rematching already made couples, so... Looking at books I've recently read, two characters have come to my mind; Jules from Until I Die (sequel to Die for Me) and Ginger from Sweet Evil. Jules is... well, Jules. The ever romantic Parisian boy. And Ginger, the "evil" twin from the book. I think it'd be interesting (not too sure how things would end lol)!
